HORSE RIDING
At Tassiriki Ranch we offer a variety of accredited
horse riding activities suitable for nervous beginners through
to intermediate riders. Our activities include relaxing escorted
beach trail rides for couples,
families, and small
groups of friends, as
well as horse awareness and riding lessons
for beginners and safe led pony
rides for younger children. You don't have to be staying at
Tassiriki Ranch to participate in beach trail rides, however,
advance bookings are essential. Horse Awareness & Riding Lessons
and Pony Rides are reserved for our accommodation guests.

Escorted Beach Trail Rides
Relax and enjoy the pristine natural
beauty of South Ballina Beach on an escorted beach trail
ride. Prior to commencing your trail ride our experienced
Trail Guides will match your riding ability with one
of our well-educated trail riding horses. You will mount
your horse in a secure fenced area and your guide will
adjust the saddle for a perfect fit. Your guide will
then brief you on horse control and the safety aspects
of the ride. Then it's off to the beach!
Your trail ride leaves directly from
the property passing through the cane fields and the
coastal forest and down onto the beach.
The ride then proceeds along the beach at a leisurely
pace offering the opportunity to keep an eye out for
dolphins playing in the waves, or even humpback whales
splashing and spouting just off-shore (July-November).
During the ride you will have the opportunity to walk
your horse into shallow pools along the shoreline and
trot and canter your horse along this beautiful beach
(conditions
apply). After your ride you are invited to
enjoy complimentary refreshments and nibbles.
Our beach rides operate 7 days per
week according to customer demand. Actual ride times
will vary with the timing of low tide events in consideration
of the threatened Pied Oystercatcher birds nesting on
the
beach.

Couples Beach Rides
Bring your partner and experience the
fun and romance of horse riding along the beach, you and
your partner can feel the wind in you hair as you ride
together along beautiful secluded beaches. These private
beach trail rides allow us to customise the level of the
trail ride to match your riding ability ensuring your
enjoyment and safety. With opportunities to pause, take
photos, and take in the peaceful atmosphere, you are sure

WHAT
TO WEAR & BRING WITH YOU FOR OUR BEACH RIDES

Horse awareness
and horse riding lessons for beginners.
These lessons are suitable for
beginner adults and children over 10 years of age and
are conducted in safe fenced areas on the property.
We provide the necessary safety equipment and a suitable
horse. Lessons last one hour and cover many aspects
of horse care and grooming, horse awareness, and riding.
These lessons are a great introduction to horse riding
while enjoying a rural holiday near the beach.

Led Pony Rides
We offer safe
led pony rides suitable for young children. Pony rides
are a real thrill for young kids who have never seen horses
before and a great photo opportunity for parents. Your
child will have a chance to brush and pat a pony and be
led around inside a secure fenced area. NB.
